This event, the Center for Digital Government's ninth annual Industry Summit, was specifically designed for state and local IT companies. Among the companies attending were top technology integrators from the state and local (SLG) markets, top VAR management, as well as top regional and ‘boutique’ SLG integrators from across the U.S.
The State and Local Government Industry Summit is a unique venue for:
• recognizing the private sector technology industry’s contribution to the modernization of public service;
• having high-value, low-ratio interactive discussions with hand-selected public sector IT leaders about the challenges and opportunities of today’s state and local market (find out what leading jurisdictions are doing with IT procurement and what trends are impacting them the most); and
• exploring potential partnering relationships (with colleagues and even competitors) through a candid peer-to-peer dialogue toward a common strategic understanding of where state and local governments are going.
The Eighth Annual Best Fit Integrator Awards Dinner recognized private sector integrators nominated by their government clients and selected by a panel of independent judges for outstanding contributions to improving the way government works. The awards are for both corporations and individuals that have dedicated themselves to government modernization and exemplify the spirit of public service.
The Summit also includes 18 holes of exercise and relationship-making to practice the art of the deal.

This session will be an opportunity to get to know one another in a fun way. Business cards won’t be needed for this ice breaker! Each person has already written a tweet-length introduction about themselves that will be read by a random someone else in attendance.
All Public and Private Sector Participants
Social media has emerged as a major source for connecting and sharing. In this session, we will get to know our sponsors as they compare their organizations to social media platforms. Will it be LinkedIn? Pinterest? Facebook? Twitter? Something new and unexpected? This session will be just the start of our social media themed day!

The iconic image for Facebook is the profile page that everyone creates for themselves or their group. For this session, we will get to know some of our government leaders via the medium of Facebook. We will view the profile pages of their jurisdictions and use our private Facebook group to submit questions for the moderator to ask, share ideas and, if you are so moved, to like the occasional comments that will be posted.
This session will follow the format of the previous session and will allow us to meet the rest of our government leaders.
There are always technologies that are trending. Over the years, a dizzying array of topics like SOA, client-server and middleware have all graced us with their presence. Some have gone the way of the dinosaurs, others were as fleeting as the proverbial one-hit wonders in the music industry. In this session, we will share a list of trending technologies – similar to Twitter’s trending list – and ask our public sector audience to give us their thoughts. You will have the opportunity to tweet new trends to the event hashtag as well.
All Public Sector Participants
At the reception last night, we asked you to ask questions for our final panel today and videoed your responses. This session will include a compilation of those videos as the means of getting greater insight from our panelists. We will supplement the videos with live questions to round out the day.
