Government Technology’s passion is helping spread best practices and spurring innovation in the public sector. The Indiana Digital Government Summit is designed to do just that. The summit has an advisory board that gathers public sector and private sector leaders to create an agenda designed to make that passion relevant and actionable to the state and local government organizations attending the summit. Participants tell us they use the inspirational keynotes, leadership discussions, networking breaks, and timely topics discussed in the numerous breakout sessions to help advance the goals of their organizations and their own career paths.
This Year’s Topics Include:
The Digital Government Summit is extremely helpful for government employees to maintain knowledge of the intersection of technology and government. The panels and speakers always provide interesting insights on how technology is impacting government. Each year, I come away thinking about ways to implement new technology to better benefit Hoosiers. The Summit is beneficial because it brings together decision-makers from all levels of state and local government and allows them to learn from each other while, interacting with industry partners.

Concurrent SessionsCreating a Cyber-Aware OrganizationPorterTechnology alone cannot make us secure. Information security risk must be considered from the perspective of the human factor. Given the nexus of the Internet, global connectivity, technologies and human interactions, it is important to understand how human behavior influences and can create exposure for your organization. This session will focus on various risk scenarios that help us explore what influences human behaviors, how behaviors can lead to security risk, and how to create a culture of cyber security – a “human firewall” within your organization. Dewand Neely, Chief Information Officer, State of Indiana Sean Telles, Manager of Systems Engineering, Public Sector, State & Local, ForeScout Technologies, Inc. The Case for Open DataMillerOpen government and transparency are often unattainable without an aggressive open data strategy. Data empowers citizens – but only if it’s valuable information and only if it’s in a form that’s easy to understand and use. So, where is the return on investment? This session looks at how to effectively use open data to streamline, improve upon, and amplify citizen relationships. Matt Kirby, Senior Consultant, KSM Consulting Dave Matusoff, Executive Director, Indiana Management and Performance Hub, State of Indiana Next Gen 911HartLegacy systems are all too common in government and 911 is a prime example. By most standards, it has not kept up with the technologies used in today’s wireless and mobile society. But that’s changing quickly as the industry takes steps to leverage cutting-edge technologies. This session offers a great example of how to modernize and transform a critical public service including the role of GIS in 911. Megan Compton, GIS Coordinator, Integrated Public Safety Commission, State of Indiana Tim Lonsway, Regional Director, CBTS Barry Ritter, Executive Director, Statewide 911 Board |
