IT leaders from some of the largest districts in the Houston area were on hand for a special briefing on their technology plans, priorities and focus for the coming years. The Houston Independent School District (HISD) is the seventh largest district in the U.S. and the largest district in the state of Texas, with more than 200,000 students. HISD believes that technology is an enabler of quality instruction and is committed to initiating innovative services that facilitate learning. Klein Independent School District serves over 45,000 students. Klein ISD’s goal is to enhance teaching and learning through the use of technology. Cypress-Fairbanks ISD has a long history of implementing technology so that students and teachers can be served by technical innovation. Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is working to improve technology use, as well as continue to provide leadership and support for teachers in the area of technology use. Cypress-Fairbanks is committed to providing a technology infrastructure that becomes more seamless with each passing year. Pasadena ISD is among the top 30 largest districts in the state of Texas, with over 52,000 students. Pasadena ISD is committed to building programs that provide technology for every student, every teacher, every administrator and every support person in the district.
The participants briefed the audience on district plans in a variety of topic areas, including computing infrastructure, mobile devices, digital content and curriculum, professional development, cyber security and their plans to incorporate blended learning models.
