Government Technology’s passion is helping spread best practices and spurring innovation in the public sector. The Oklahoma Digital Government Summit is designed to do just that. The summit has an advisory board that gathers public sector and private sector leaders to create an agenda designed to make that passion relevant and actionable to the state and local government organizations attending the summit. Participants tell us they use the inspirational keynotes, leadership discussions, networking breaks, and timely topics discussed in the numerous breakout sessions to help advance the goals of their organizations and their own career paths.

Concurrent SessionsSecuring OklahomaReed Ballroom A/BIt’s an old adage that the cyber landscape is constantly shifting. But some things remain unchanged. Attacks are still efforts to rob, disrupt or avenge. Motives are still economic, political or cultural. The overall battlefield remains much the same but the weapons and tactics continue to evolve – often dramatically. This session looks at emerging trends, developments and strategies on the cyber front and how to get ready for the clashes ahead. Moderator: Wade Lance, Chief Solutions Officer, CyberProof (A UST Global Company) (@WadeLance1) Lynnetta Eyachabbe, Cyber Security Awareness & Outreach Coordinator, Information Technology Department, University of Oklahoma Mark Gower, Chief Information Security Officer & State Cyber Command Director, Office of Management and Enterprise Services, State of Oklahoma Richard Lay, Cyber Agent, FBI April Lee, CISSP, IT Security Architect, Health Sciences Center, University of Oklahoma Data Governance – The Key to Efficient Data SharingReed Ballroom E/FTypically, organizations have an inconsistent view of data across departments or even within the same department. In this age of IoT, big data and the cloud, it’s more important than ever to find ways to reliably share data both internally and externally. Otherwise there will be inefficiencies, missed opportunities and poor results. This session will discuss the importance of strong foundational architecture in any data-sharing strategy. Autumn Felty, Data Governance Manager, Office of Management and Enterprise Services, State of Oklahoma Patsy Leisering, Director, Data Driven Services, Office of Management and Enterprise Services, State of Oklahoma Gena Nelson, Enterprise Data Architect, ONE Gas The Future IT WorkforceJoynerThe IT landscape is evolving dramatically – the technologies we use, the people we work with, and the way we deliver services are transforming at a pace previously unforeseen. This session will discuss the current make-up of the multigenerational workforce, how generations can collaborate to solve IT problems, and strategies for building the workforce of the future. General Session - Innovate!Reed Ballroom C/DAs technology drives on and continues to transform society in countless ways, we each have the choice to lead, follow or risk getting run over. Option number one is definitely the most rewarding. It’s not always easy to embrace the process of reinvention, but is there really any other choice in the long run? This panel of innovators will discuss some novel approaches for inspiring and engaging employees, stakeholders, businesses and citizens to think outside the box, safely venture beyond comfort zones and try some things that might never have been done before. Moderator: Erica Weiner, National Conference Director, Government Technology Dustin Crossfield, Director, Technology Services, State of Oklahoma Tom Wavering, Executive Director, Innovation Hub, University of Oklahoma |

Concurrent SessionsReinventing the Citizen ExperienceReed Ballroom A/BIn this highly interactive and fast-paced society, people are getting more demanding about, well, everything. The pressure is mounting on government services, too, and our challenge right now is to make “citizen-centric” more than a buzzword. This session discusses best practices and creative strategies to remake government’s relationship with its customers into something more engaging and rewarding. Mahesh Patel, Senior Manager, IoT Product Management, US Cellular Bret Warren, General Manager, Oklahoma Interactive/NIC (@oklainteractive) Cloud SurvivalReed Ballroom E/FToday, it’s tough to find an organization that doesn’t depend on the cloud for something critical. The question is no longer whether to venture into the cloud, yes or no. Now it’s a matter of “How, what, when and where?” Understanding and anticipating risks, limitations, scope and accountability are critical to success. This session explores the factors to consider before going “all in” (or even partway). Moderator: Wade Lance, Chief Solutions Officer, CyberProof (A UST Global Company) (@WadeLance1) Eric Roenker, Global Practice Director, Enterprise Consulting, UST Global Sarjoo Shah, Chief Information Officer, Human Services, Office of Management & Enterprise Services, State of Oklahoma Anita Sindhwani, Manager, Enterprise Architecture, Sonic Corp. IT and Business - Seeking the Holy GrailJoynerTypically, efforts to align technology and business bring more tension than synergy. But the digital age is triggering new perspectives on traditional roles, boundaries and interaction. There’s just no time for battles – society is evolving far too quickly. Ideally, technology drives new business processes and business opens the door to new technology solutions. It should be a two-way street. This session looks at tactics, techniques and approaches to get stakeholders onto the same page. And isn’t that the holy grail? Fast Track SessionsReed Ballroom C/DWhat’s Your EQ?Many people focus on the importance of cognitive intelligence (IQ) in predicting academic and professional success. But a growing amount of evidence suggests that other traits – including the ability to control impulses, manage adversity, find internal motivation, and build relationships – are essential in achieving the best outcomes in both personal and professional relationships. This session discusses Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and how it impacts you and those around you. Alan Vanderburg, Business Analyst, Tulsa County IoT and Its Impact on GovernmentThe Internet of Things (IoT) is a series of billions – soon to be trillions – of sensors and devices connected to one another via the Internet. Most of it is automated, and the possibilities that IoT brings to society are the stuff of science fiction. But it’s all very real, and the question on many people’s minds: Is government ready? This session explores the role of government in using, exploiting, controlling and surviving the hyper-connected world of IoT. Shawn Taylor, Systems Engineer, Public Sector State and Local Government, ForeScout Technologies, Inc. Women in TechnologyThis session is NOT for women only! It’s a discussion that is relevant – and even critical – to everyone in IT at every level. It’s long past the time to drop IT stereotypes and preconceptions. IT organizations need every capable candidate they can find. This session will showcase some local initiatives underway to promote diversity in technology.
