It is a golden opportunity for us to step back, take a deep breath and dive into some spirited discussions about our roles as IT leaders. Technology makes incredible things possible, but only to the degree that we make it happen. It’s all about leadership! Featured Speaker – The Art of PersuasionHayes Ballroom D/EJames Taylor, CEO, Florida Technology Council, and 2019 Government Technology Magazine Top 25 Doer, Dreamer and Driver Some confuse persuasion with manipulation, but they aren’t the same at all. One builds trust, the other destroys it. Successful projects require collaboration, understanding and even fellowship. You need to bring people on board. This session discusses the “two stages of influence” in any initiative – first to get buy-in and approval, and second to get cooperation when implementing the project. It’s an art! |

Featured Speaker - Sustainable InnovationHayes Ballroom D/EChris Smith, Vice President Shared Services, AT&T In the private sector, there is an old proverb about business survival: “Don’t rest on your laurels.” The very best companies say it more fiercely: “Innovate or die!” and this is particularly true for a technology company. But here’s the problem: initial innovations are relatively easy. Then it gets much harder – the low-hanging fruit is gone and the rest can seem awfully hard to reach. This session explores how to keep the momentum going over the long haul. |

This session provokes thoughts and builds confidence as it covers creative approaches for the 2020’s. General Session – Cool Collaboration ToolsHayes Ballroom D/EYou must communicate to collaborate! And that can be a tall order with too-busy colleagues and virtual teams. It’s not workable anymore to rely on emailing colleagues, knocking on doors and leaving voicemails. Technology makes it so much easier to share ideas, streamline workflows, track progress and communicate in general. This session features some of the most popular technologies and approaches to help teams work together more effectively and enjoyably. General Session – A Day in the LifeHayes Ballroom D/EFor a while there, trendy C-suite titles were taking on a distinctly religious overtone. Chief Inspiration Officer. Chief Internet Evangelist. Chief People Officer. Things have settled down some, but the groundswell of chiefs in the last few years has left its mark, especially in functions related to IT. So where does that leave the role of the time-honored CIO? Do you really have to have multiple personalities to be a good leader? Well, yes! In this session, be prepared to laugh, cry and be inspired by veteran CIOs who have had to adopt a surprising range of personas depending on who and what was sitting in front of them. Moderator: Katrina Flory, Chief of Staff, DAS Office of Information Technology, State of Ohio Peter Anderson, Chief Information Officer, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Scott Brock, Chief Information Officer, Development Services Agency, State of Ohio Michael Carmack, Chief Technology Officer, Department of Education, State of Ohio Tina Chubb, Chief Information Officer, Department of Insurance, State of Ohio Dusten Kohlhorst, Chief Information Officer, Treasurer of State, State of Ohio |
