The New York IT Leadership Forum is the premier event for senior level technology leaders and upcoming leaders. The purpose of this invitation-only event is to foster discussion and dialogue on what it means to be a successful IT executive in the public sector and to provide tools and strategies to assist current and emerging leaders. This event is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for government and industry to collaborate and address the most important policy, management and leadership issues surrounding the future of digital government.
The past two years have been a test for all of us. As leaders, we rose to the challenge and navigated through some of the roughest waters we have ever faced. Now our challenge is to resolve how we will emerge from the experience and to ensure continuous improvement in all we do. Will we be stronger? More compassionate? More prepared? More invigorated? This year’s Leadership Forum is our opportunity to make absolutely sure that the answer to these questions will be a resounding YES! Please join us.

General Session – The Disney Way – Can It Work in Government?Disney will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary. For a century, the name Disney has been synonymous with beloved customer experiences. This didn’t happen by accident, nor did it happen overnight. It took relentless cultivation and innovation. The result is that Disney has brand loyalty that is the envy of organizations throughout the world. What can we learn from the Disney Way? In this session, a renowned Disney expert helps us explore how governments can put some of these principles into practice for the benefit of our own customers. Featuring: Lee Cockerell, Former Executive Vice President at Walt Disney World Resort (video) Phil Bertolini, Senior Vice President, Government Technology Teri Takai, Senior Vice President, Center for Digital Government, and former CIO, U.S. Department of Defense |

General Session –The Power of MentorshipThere is no substitute for experience. Veteran leaders have typically “been there, done that” in just about every scenario possible. They can be of tremendous value in getting people up to speed, reducing frustration, easing friction, limiting failures, and enhancing job satisfaction. Many people simply lack the courage to ask for help, and a formal mentorship program makes it safe and stress-free. This session discusses how to get the most from a mentorship program as either a mentor or a mentee – or better yet, both! Jillian Bullis, Director of Workforce Development, Office of General Services, State of New York Jenn Lorenz, Deputy CIO for Operations, Information Technology Services, State of New York |

General Session – Reinventing and Reinvigorating the Employee ExperienceThere is no doubt that this is the Age of Acceleration in the workforce and workplace. Turnover is rampant. Recruitment is elusive. Morale is tenuous. Hybrid workforces are the norm. The silver lining? The pandemic has opened a window to drive long-needed change, and it serves as a catalyst for reexamining how we create and develop winning workforces, enlightened cultures, and fulfilling work environments. This session explores ways to scrap outmoded practices and embrace new paradigms. Part One: Brian Digman, Chief Information Officer, SUNY Karen Geduldig, Deputy Commissioner, NYS Department of Taxation & Finance, State of New York Matt Jebaraj, Executive Director, Project Management Office & Business Analysis Services, Information Technology Services, State of New York Part Two: Charles O’Shea, Regional Executive for State Government Strategy, T-Mobile Chandrodaya Prasad, Vice President, Product Management, Cloud and Network Security, Security Business Group, Cisco Systems, Inc. General Session – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – How to Make It HappenIt is indisputable that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization is more innovative and successful. Then why has DEI been such a struggle for so many organizations, particularly in technology? Most likely, there wasn’t enough time spent on creating a game plan that results in tangible wins. This session looks at how to go “beyond the acronym” to really move the needle. Nancy Hernandez, Deputy Comptroller for Diversity Management, Office of the State Comptroller, State of New York Carla Grant Pickens, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, IBM |

General Session – It All Comes Down to RelationshipsWe often hear that IT deserves a stronger seat at the table, and that a better bridge is needed between IT and Business. But in truth, IT is already front and center in everything that government does. You’re in the game. Winning the game depends on being adept at making friends and influencing people, and that includes managing their expectations. This session discusses why communication must be the cornerstone of your role as an IT leader. R. Grace Dillon, Executive Director, Revenue, Finance and Public Integrity Portfolio, Office of Technology Services, State of New York Joseph Popcun, Executive Deputy Commissioner, Division of Criminal Justice Services, State of New York Jim Richberg, Public Sector CISO and VP of Information Security, Fortinet, Inc. |

Interactive Session – The Answer Is in the RoomTo paraphrase a great poet, “No IT manager is an island, entire of itself.” When you’re in a roomful of high-caliber peers, odds are that you’re not the only one looking for ways to meet the same challenges. There is strength in numbers and diversity. The purpose of this closing session is to leverage the ideas and inspiration from today’s program to forge ongoing partnerships and collaboration. Let’s keep the momentum! Hosted by: Angelo ‘Tony’ Riddick, State Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Services, State of New York |
