Customers are asking for the perfect experience, enabling them to use any device and any media—mobile, web, SMS, chat, phone—of their choice, at any moment. At the same time, teams need to manage and effectively utilize resources. By capturing all interaction data, we can preserve context throughout the customer journey, pair customers with the right agents and resources, at the right cost, giving agents the right knowledge—so there’s no need to ask customers to repeat themselves. This opens the ability to get real-time, fully meshed insights into what’s going on with your customers and constituents, manage engagement across any device or channel, capitalize on big data and break down the silos around traditional analytics tools.
Carolyn received her B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and MBA in Marketing and Finance from NYU Stern School of Business.

Reinventing the Customer Experience

Mercer

It’s a highly interactive and fast-paced society, and people are getting more demanding about, well, everything. The pressure is mounting on government services, too, and our challenge right now is to make “citizen-centric” more than just a buzzword. This session looks at creative strategies to remake government’s relationship with its customers into something more stimulating and beneficial.

The Internet of Things and Its Impact on Government

Ewing

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a series of billions – soon to be trillions – of sensors and devices connected to one another via the Internet. Most of it is automated, and the possibilities that IoT brings to society are the stuff of science fiction. But it’s all very real, and the question on many people’s minds: Is government ready? This session explores the role of government in using, exploiting, controlling, securing and surviving the hyper-connected world of IoT.

Cloud Ecosystems

Hamilton

The paradigm has already shifted, and just about every organization has ventured into the cloud in one way or another. Some attempts have been more successful than others, some models (public, private, hybrid) have proven more viable than others, and some procurement approaches have fared better than others. This session focuses on lessons learned, practices that work and pitfalls to avoid.

General Session – The Open Data Imperative

LaFayette Ballroom

Open data isn’t just a fad – it’s the future. To quote Star Trek: resistance is futile. There are just too many tangible benefits and too many political mandates to ignore, particularly in light of the New Jersey Open Data Initiative recently signed into law. But before taking the leap, there are some important things to know and some common misconceptions to clear up regarding what an open data program really entails. This session tackles these myths and discusses the real-life efforts required to launch, maintain and govern a successful open data program.

Big Data and What to Do with It

Mercer

The sports world might get the most publicity but virtually every industry is being revolutionized by big data and analytics. Security vs. Mobility

Ewing

We’ve passed an important tipping point. Internet usage on mobile devices easily tops desktop access, meaning that IT has to think mobile-first (and perhaps ultimately mobile-only) in almost everything it does. And that means making security a top priority. This session discusses where we’re headed and how to keep up with an increasingly mobile citizenry and workforce.

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality technology offers much more than mere entertainment and “immersive storytelling”. It makes possible a whole new approach to tackling complex challenges in a cost-effective and safe virtual environment. This session showcases some of the fascinating applications currently underway that demonstrate why VR technology offers such promise in government services.

Shreekanth Mandayam, Vice President of Research and Executive Director of South Jersey Technology Park, Rowan University

Blockchain in Government

Blockchain technology could conceivably transform government operations. What is blockchain? It’s an incorruptible and transparent ledger of economic transactions. The best-known example is Bitcoin. But its potential goes far beyond payments and financial services, and there’s a lot to like. This session looks into this fast-emerging technology and why it is particularly suited to government applications.

Health Innovation and Technology

Health crises are in the news daily: water quality, food safety, diabetes, prescription drug abuse, and mental health, just to name a few. The list sometimes seems endless. As with all difficult government problems, the buck stops with technology. This session discusses the role of IT innovation in analyzing, predicting, alerting, educating and treating the toughest public health challenges now and in the future.
