Keynote – What’s Your Story?Missouri/Capital/TrumanKelly Swanson, Strategic Narrative Specialist IT is an adventure. Or should be! Every project is a journey, and we need to be better at promoting what we’re doing and accomplishing by painting pictures that resonate. Data alone is not enough anymore. It’s already over-used, mis-used, abused and fake-newsed. The key is wrapping your data in a way that makes people care. You need the secret ingredient that is probably missing from presentations, pitches, speeches and any situation where you are trying to move the needle. In this mind-expanding session, you will find out how to go from manipulating to motivating, from communicating to connecting, from telling people what to do to making them want to do it. Learn from the master! |

Concurrent SessionsDriving Change at ScaleLincoln Banquet RoomThe previous session, Future Ready, discussed why this is the Age of Acceleration and how technology will impact our IT organizations in the years ahead. The technological game-changers are clear, but will they beget opportunities or breaking points? It’s hard enough to support existing IT needs while contending with compliance issues, legacy systems, staffing needs, etc. This interactive session furthers the discussion about how and why our IT organizations must evolve to meet – and embrace – the challenges ahead. Moderator: Gonz Roman, IT Business Manager, Department of Information Technology, St. Louis County Michael Cheles, Chief Information Officer, State of Missouri Aaron Erickson, Area Vice President, State and Local Applications Sales, Oracle Kent Hillman, Director of Technology Services, Huber & Associates, Inc. Data Sharing RevolutionJefferson B/CIt’s a common refrain that government should operate more like an enterprise. This approach holds true in some ways more than others, but it particularly applies to data and how it’s used – or not used – in meaningful ways. It all starts with data sharing, which has been talked about for years. So why isn’t it done enough? Are the barriers cultural, legal or technical? This session talks about the factors that are holding us back from where we badly need to go. Mary-Sara Jones, Health and Human Services Industry Leader, Global Business Services, IBM Brandon M. Ousley, Client Services Manager, Office of Administration ITSD, State of Missouri Project Management SolutionsJefferson AWhich is right for you – agile or classic or hybrid or something else? The answer: It depends. There are a variety of dynamics that drive project management approaches. It’s not necessarily “one size fits all.” Where can you turn for answers? This session explores the factors and resources to consider when deciding on a project methodology.
