All residents, visitors and businesses of the Commonwealth benefit when the underlying technology systems that power state government function smoothly and efficiently. To that end, we must offer a secure environment and ensure that our colleagues have the modern tools necessary to provide services to constituents when, and where, they need them. The annual Massachusetts Digital Government Summit presents a unique opportunity for IT professionals and government leaders to collaborate on solutions to the new challenges that we all face in our ever-changing digital world. I look forward to seeing you there.

KeynoteGrand Ballroom ABWhat’s Your Story?Kelly Swanson, Strategic Narrative Specialist (@motivationspkr) IT is an adventure. Or should be! Every project is a journey, and we need to be better at promoting what we’re doing and how much we’re accomplishing. It’s important to be able to paint a picture that resonates. Data alone is not enough anymore. It’s already over-used, mis-used, abused and fake-newsed. The key is wrapping your data in a way that makes people care. You need the secret ingredient that is probably missing from presentations, pitches, speeches and any situation where you are trying to get buy-in. In this mind-expanding session, you will find out how to go from manipulating to motivating, from communicating to connecting, from telling people what to do to making them want to do it. Learn from the master! |

But how do these underground groups conduct these attacks, where do they communicate and coordinate and what products and services do they buy and sell? In this session, we will dive into the world of organized cybercrime and get into the mind of a cybercriminal. We will learn basic hacking techniques, see how easy it is to gain information on a target, and visit underground and dark web websites. This discussion will include the importance of "cyber drills" and how to train teams across the enterprise to identify and respond to the bad guys. |
