The Los Angeles IT Leadership Forum is the premier event for senior level technology leaders and upcoming leaders. The purpose of this invitation-only event is to foster discussion and dialogue on what it means to be a successful IT executive in the public sector and to provide tools and strategies to assist current and emerging leaders. This event is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for government and industry to collaborate and address the most important policy, management and leadership issues surrounding the future of digital government.
I have found the LA IT Leadership Forum to have great speakers, important topics, and some of the finest government IT leaders in Southern California. It is well worth the time for experienced or future IT leaders.
– Ted Ross, Chief Information Officer, City of Los Angeles

Keynote – Comfort in the UncomfortableWe’ve all heard motivators who tell us to move toward the uncomfortable. In this can’t-miss keynote, musician extraordinaire Roddy Chong takes this concept to a new level by showing us how to play through challenges and create comfort by trusting the right processes. The goal – always – is to set ourselves up for moments of brilliance. We are capable of more than we imagine! Roddy Chong, Virtuoso Violinist |

General Session – What’s the Plan?Strong leadership can be in vain without a clear vision and tangible goals. It’s all too tempting to focus on tactics and not enough on strategic planning. Where do you want to be in five years? Can you quantify it? Can you communicate it, and to whom? Do you empower others to achieve it? Is everyone really on board? If not, why not? This session discusses how to keep your team on course during the long voyage ahead. Moderator: Karen Loquet, Assistant Auditor Controller and Chief Information Officer, Auditor Controller’s Office, Los Angeles County Jennifer Kirkwood, Partner, Talent Transformation, IBM Consulting Peter Loo, Acting Chief Information Officer, Los Angeles County |

General Session – Leading in Extraordinary TimesAmong the most annoying of buzzwords is “new normal.” Probably because there is no such thing. The only thing we can really count on is more change. Emerging from the pandemic is just one facet of the ongoing challenges we face. There are many more, including hybrid teams, employee burnout, recruitment & retention, shifting expectations, digital inequity, technology disruption, and increasing environmental threats. This panel discussion honestly assesses where we stand, what to prioritize, and how to lead the way to a brighter future. Moderator: Mike Driessen, Vice President, Subscription Services, e.Republic Part One: Lea Eriksen, Director and Chief Information Officer, Technology & Innovation, City of Long Beach Jeramy Gray, Chief Deputy, Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, Los Angeles County Phillip Leclair, Chief Information Officer, Department of Information Technology, City of Pasadena Part Two: Lloyd Levine, National Senior Executive, State and Local Government Strategy, T-Mobile Curtis Simpson, Chief Information Security Officer, Armis |

General Session – Resetting the Workforce and WorkplaceThere is no doubt that this is the Age of Acceleration. The rate of technological and social change is increasing constantly, often exponentially. The pandemic opened a window to drive long-needed change, and it serves as a catalyst for reexamining how we create and develop winning workforces and fulfilling work environments. This session explores ways to scrap outmoded practices and embrace new paradigms. General Session – It All Comes Down to RelationshipsWe often hear that IT deserves a stronger seat at the table, and that a better bridge is needed between IT and Business. But in truth, IT is already front and center in everything that government does. You’re in the game. Winning the game depends on being adept at making friends and influencing people. Not just your immediate colleagues, but upper leadership, business peers, budget directors, elected officials, and service providers. This session discusses the vital subject of communication and why it must be the cornerstone of your role as an IT leader. Moderator: Hansa Bernal, Conference Director, Government Technology Mohammed Al Rawi, Chief Information Officer, Office of the Public Defender, Los Angeles County Jim Richberg, Field Chief Information Security Officer, Fortinet Michael Sylvester, Assistant Director and Chief Information Officer, Department of Public Social Services, Los Angeles County |

Interactive Session – The Answer Is in the RoomTo paraphrase a great poet, “No IT manager is an island, entire of itself.” When you’re in a roomful of high-caliber peers, odds are that you’re not the only one looking for ways to meet the same challenges. There is strength in numbers and diversity. The purpose of this closing session is to leverage the ideas and inspiration from today’s program to forge ongoing partnerships and collaboration. Let’s keep the momentum! Hosted by Ted Ross, Chief Information Officer, City of Los Angeles |
