The Large District Fly-In is hosted by the Center for Digital Education. The nation’s largest 50 districts and select others were invited to take part in discussions that articulate the priorities and challenges large school districts are facing as they ‘shift to digital.’
Free of charge to public-sector leaders, the discussions highlighted the use of information technology in district management and teaching/learning. The districts were also invited to share their plans, including the current status, rationale for their decisions and what they have learned from their efforts to date.
The discussion points included:
We encourage participants to discuss the Large District Fly-in via Twitter: #ldflyin.

Reflections on EducationIt is often useful to hear from those who have walked in your shoes and lived to tell the tale. Tom Ryan, former CIO of Albuquerque Public Schools, and Kipp Bentley, former director of educational technology at Denver Public Schools, are now “retired” and serving as senior fellows for the Center for Digital Education. In this session, they will both share their thoughts on working in education, what they would do the same and what they would change – given the chance. From working with other parts of the district to working with their peers nationally, everything can be on the table for this discussion! Facilitator: Alan Cox, Executive Vice President, Center for Digital Education Panelists: Kipp Bentley, Senior Fellow, Center for Digital Education Tom Ryan, Senior Fellow, Center for Digital Education |
