Everything has a shelf life and suffers from the effects of aging. Technology is no different. Governments have a dire need to modernize existing infrastructure and applications. They are trying to find innovative ways to strategically rejuvenate their technology platforms and manage their technical debt. What role does innovation play in modernization? This session will focus on creative and innovative ways, like cloud migration, to take out the old and bring in the new.

Here is What is on the Minds of the CIOs! – Group Discussion

The mind of the CIO can be a very scary place. The pace of technology and the need to secure just about everything has the mind of the CIO reeling to find a way to solve problems. This session will unlock that scary place. The topics discussed here will be derived from the group discussions held during the morning sessions. This afternoon session will be a deeper dive into what is fresh on the list. This is a terrific opportunity to share what has worked, what has been challenging and how can the sharing help all the CIOs in the room.

It Is All About the People: Building and Structuring the Right Team for Government Technology

The battle for the best human resources is on across the nation. Governments are fighting a good fight, but often lose out to the private sector due to compensation and workplace flexibility. The world of government provides the necessary need for people to do good things for other people – but is that enough? This session will provide the discussion that everyone in the room needs to tackle this difficult problem.

What’s Next? – Group Discussion

The question hanging over everyone’s head is: Now, what do we do next? CIOs work diligently to strategically plan for the future and to engage with their peers to make sure they are getting it right. This session will use the previous discussions to harvest stuff that needs to get done. This session will also be used to pair up CIOs and technology partners who can help each other on the many pressing initiatives. An Action Item List will be created with a schedule of engagement to commence after the event, including how the Center for Digital Government can ensure the discussion continues to move forward. We will all work together to make government better!
