Overview

The Center for Digital Education hosted a Market Briefing event in Cincinnati, OH. IT leaders from Ohio school districts were on hand for a special briefing on their technology plans for the coming years.

The participants briefed the audience on district plans in a variety of topic areas, including computing infrastructure, mobile devices, digital content, professional development, cyber security and their plans to incorporate blended learning models.

Beavercreek City Schools has nearly 7,500 students and is using technology to facilitate communications, improve instruction and provide opportunities for lifelong learning. With almost 5,500 students, Princeton City Schools is committed to providing its students access to technological tools that will enable them to thrive as productive life-long learners. Forest Hills LSD has nearly 7,500 students who it is supporting through the use of technology. Lakota LSD has over 16,000 students who it is working to make technologically ready for their futures. 

This event allows participants to:
• Hear directly from CIOs and technology leaders from area school districts
• Network with fellow industry leaders in the region
• Learn about the hot issues in the education IT market

Debra Crawford

Debra Crawford

Blended Learning Coordinator, Cincinnati Public Schools

Debra Crawford is the blended learning coordinator for Cincinnati Public Schools. Serving 35,000 students at 56 schools in southwest Ohio, Cincinnati Public Schools is Greater Cincinnati’s largest school district and Ohio’s third largest. In her role, Debra leads several initiatives/projects for the district, including Advanced Placement Blended Learning (APBL), Industry Credential Blended Learning (ICBL), Math Distance Learning and the CPS Tech Truck: Driving Digital Learning. She also serves on various committees, such as the My Tomorrow planning committee and the Digital Learning Team, helping make decisions that impact technology for the entire district.

Krista Heidenreich

Director of Digital Learning, Lakota Local School District

Krista Heidenreich began her career in public education 18 years ago as a first grade teacher. From there, she followed her passion for educational leadership by taking on the role of curriculum instructional specialist, building administrator and, most recently, director of digital learning. Krista’s journey in the field of education has provided her with a range of experiences and skills necessary to successfully lead Lakota’s digital learning initiatives. Krista and her team of digital learning specialists provide ongoing, job-embedded professional development to teaching staff and building leaders supporting the use of technology to not only enhance the way that teachers create content, but also the way that they deliver instruction both in and outside of the classroom to meet the learning needs of all students.

Christopher Lockhart

Christopher Lockhart

Director of Technology, Princeton City Schools

Christopher Lockhart has been attempting to tame technology for over 25 years to bend to his will. Starting in the early 90s and surviving the apocalyptic Y2K bug has taught him a lot about the triumphs, trials and hype of supporting information technology in large and small businesses, schools and public venues. He studied Electronic Engineering at DeVry, and radio communications for the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon, GA. His passion was on display while co-hosting a weekly live call-in web radio show, In the TechKnow. He is currently the director of technology for Princeton City Schools.

Christine McCormick

Director of Technology, Forest Hills School District

Christine McCormick began her career as a software developer and moved into public education 15 years ago. Thirteen of her years have been in a leadership capacity. In those years, Christine worked in three districts, moving from a purely technical role to a technology/innovation hybrid role. She was instrumental in bringing Bring Your Own Device into her district, migration from Microsoft product to Google Products, bringing Blended Learning Cohorts into existence, as well as forming structural supports to help her district be future ready. She is currently focused on personalized learning and inspiring staff members to innovate.

Marlon J. Styles, Jr.

Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Lakota Local School District

Marlon Styles started as a middle school math teacher 15 years ago. As an instructional leader, he has served as a building and district administrator focused on providing students with quality learning opportunities. He works with a team of innovative leaders in the Lakota Local School District, where providing instructional excellence is a district priority. Lakota is excited about the future as we strive to modernize the design and deliver of our instruction.
