Industry Insider – Florida members are invited to attend this in-person exclusive briefing with Scott Ward, Chief Information Officer of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) oversees the administration of health care services and the regulation of health care facilities in Florida, ensuring access to quality care for residents across the state. AHCA manages the state’s Medicaid program, licenses and regulates health care providers, and promotes health care transparency through data collection and analysis. The agency operates with an annual budget exceeding $35 billion and has approximately 1,500 employees across multiple divisions, including Medicaid, Health Quality Assurance, and the Office of Inspector General. AHCA works closely with state and federal agencies to enhance the delivery of health care services.

Scott Ward

Chief Information Officer, Florida Agency for Health Care Administration

Scott Ward is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and IT Division Director for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, whose organizational mission is to oversee health facility regulations and compliance and administer the Florida Federal Medicaid Program.  He has over 21 years in Florida public sector management.  Scott’s executive responsibilities include IT strategic planning, IT procurement, cybersecurity, IT policy, IT data management and disaster recovery planning.   Scott has been in the Agency CIO role for fifteen years and served in six executive secretary administrations.  Scott’s career began in insurance and risk management before choosing information technology as a career move in 2003.   He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).  Scott is a native Floridian born and raised in Volusia County before settling in Tallahassee.
