Concurrent SessionsOn the Front Lines of SecurityRoom 103 (1st Floor)Government organizations are under attack and the stakes have never been higher. Threats of all types are increasingly sophisticated and better organized. Spearfishing and ransomware are becoming full-fledged industries with remarkably low barriers to entry. This session takes an unflinching look at what we’re up against and how to avoid becoming a prize catch. Danielle Alvarez, Chief Information Security Officer, Agency for State Technology, State of Florida Orson Lucas, Managing Director, Cyber Security Services, KPMG LLC Oliver Schuermann, Senior Director, AMER Enterprise Architecture, Juniper (@ATL_Oliver) About Your Data…Room 214 (2nd Floor)The key to superlative information management is accurately determining the nature of the data, including where it came from, where it resides, its format, who owns it, who plans to use it, and how it will be accessed and used. These questions can be tedious and even painful to answer but they are critical steps to optimizing security and getting the most out of analytics. This session focuses on building a solid foundation through effective data management. Charles Ghini, Chief Information Officer, Department of Financial Services, State of Florida Kenneth Ritchhart, Vice President, Business Development & Strategic Planning, Public Sector, North America, Oracle Phil Yaccino, Senior Principal Systems Engineer, Information Governance Architect, Veritas Internet of Things and Its Impact on GovernmentRoom 114 (1st Floor)The Internet of Things (IoT) is a series of billions – soon to be trillions – of sensors and devices connected to one another via the Internet. Most of it is automated, and the possibilities that IoT brings to society are the stuff of science fiction. But it’s all very real, and the question on many people’s minds: Is government ready? This session explores the role of government in using, exploiting, controlling and surviving the hyper-connected world of IoT. Shawn Kingsberry, Director, Digital Government, Global Public Sector, Unisys (@skingsbe) Steven Narvaez, CGCIO/IT Director, City of Deltona Anthony Seal, Global Practice Director – AT&T Internet of Things Practice, AT&T |

Keynote – The “Four R’s” of Workforce EngagementRoom 208 (Auditorium)Dr. Trish Holliday, Chief Learning Officer, State of Tennessee There is good news and there is bad news. The bad news is that research indicates that employee engagement hovers around 30%, meaning that the majority feel disengaged to a degree. But the good news is that something can be done about it. This interactive and eye-opening session presents a “4R” strategy to increase engagement and create a high-performing workplace culture. You will learn new and improved ways to acquire top talent (Recruit), invest in the development and growth of employees (Retain), recognize and celebrate high performance (Reward), and guide your organization to greater efficiency and effectiveness (Reach). |

Fast Track SessionsRoom 208 (Auditorium)Risk Assessment Results – Surprising or Expected? The Florida Agency for State Technology recently oversaw an in-depth series of risk assessments, and the overall results have been compiled and analyzed. Without naming names, this session reveals the overall outcomes and areas of strengths and vulnerabilities. Most won’t come as a shock but be prepared for a few surprises. Danielle Alvarez, Chief Information Security Officer, Agency for State Technology, State of Florida FSU’s Innovation HubEarly next year, FSU unveils its exciting new Innovation Hub, an interdisciplinary facility for design and innovation. The center will support all stages of Design Thinking by using the latest technologies, including: a digital fabrication lab with 3D printers, laser cutters and other tools for developing prototypes, and an artificial reality lab for students to explore virtual and augmented reality, all in a highly collaborative environment. This session offers a glimpse into the motivation and thought process behind this bold initiative. Ken Baldauf, Director, Program in Interdisciplinary Computing, and Innovation Hub Director, Florida State University The Machines are Winning! We’re outnumbered. Badly. We’ve long since crossed the threshold of more mobile devices than people, and that’s not even including all the computers, smart home devices, sensors, autonomous vehicles and machine-to-machine connections on the planet. Humans are clearly in the minority and falling further behind every second. And then there’s artificial intelligence to worry about. Is there any hope for us at all or is it already too late? This session provides a thought-provoking, sobering and humorous look at the future of humanity. Pete Butler, Vice Chair, Technology Advisory Council, State of Florida (@petebutler) |
