Solving our clients’ problems, in a way that makes their world better, is what drives me. In the life of a product person, there are only very few times when you have the opportunity to really redefine an industry to make a dent in the world. When you can do that with a bunch of “A” players that are working as a team and focused on getting things done – not themselves- and with exciting new technologies, this is the best combination. This gig is that. Pushing ourselves to do better at every iteration, learning new things every day and having a lot of fun doing it.

Keynote – Atomic Habits: How to Get 1% Better Every Day

How can you achieve dramatic improvement in your personal and professional life? The natural impulse is to attempt big steps to improve. However, taking big steps often results in failure or only temporary gains. You rarely see the permanent results you want. The key to successful change is small habits. In this enlightening talk, James Clear focuses on the science of small habits, how they work, and how their effects compound and multiply over time. You will come away with practical strategies that you can immediately apply in your daily life.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is transforming the way we work, interact, and live our lives by blurring the boundaries between virtual and physical systems. Society will continue to be disrupted in countless ways, but Heather McGowan offers us a bit of reassurance: The future of work is human. We need managers and leaders who inspire and cultivate human potential in the face of constant digital disruption. In this thought-provoking session, Heather encourages us to rethink our systems of education and workforce development, our organization of work and workers, our process of talent attraction and retention, and even ourselves.

Navigating the Cyber Threat Landscape

As organizations move toward hybrid (remote vs. in-office) workforces on a long-term basis, and households are increasingly reliant on digital devices for government interactions, bad actors are zealously ferreting out new vulnerabilities to exploit. The landscape is changing fast, and now is the time to be future-focused. This session takes a close look at emerging trends and promising solutions in cybersecurity.

Moderator: Teri Takai, Vice President, Center for Digital Government

Brian Linder, Cybersecurity Threat Evangelist, Office of the CTO, Check Point Software

Concurrent Sessions

Preparing for the Post-Pandemic Workplace

Organizations have undergone a paradigm shift and there is no going back to pre-pandemic norms. While it is probably impractical to sustain a dominant remote-first work environment, it is clearly unrealistic to insist on “office-first.” Hybrid is our future. What will this look like in the Bay Area? Can we keep a dispersed workforce engaged over the long term? How do we create a culture that fits the times we live in? Should we be thinking differently about technology and security? In this session, a panel of thought-leaders explores possibilities, probabilities, and lessons learned.

Moderator: Alan Cox, Executive Vice President and Publisher, Government Technology magazine

Frederic Bourget, Vice President of Product Management, IPRO

Tim Dupuis, Chief Information Officer, Alameda County

Bri Haralson, Account Executive, Public Sector, Nintex

Data-Driven Decision Making

The events of 2020 put a spotlight on the importance of data analysis. Critical social policy and public health decisions hinged on the analysis of thousands of data sets. New challenges continue to arise, often leading us into uncharted territory. Time and time again, data is proving to be the most powerful guide. This session explores the latest tools and strategies to effectively analyze and harness data to make educated decisions in good times and bad.

General Session – Where Do We Go from Here?

None of us want to repeat last year, but we made tremendous headway in many, many ways. The gap between IT and business narrowed considerably. We accomplished things in a month that normally take a year. We found more freedom to innovate. We started to bridge the digital divide. We forged unexpected partnerships. We procured at record speeds. All great news, but we still have a long way to go in our digital transformation journey. This session discusses how to build on our progress and keep the momentum going strong.
